After You Land

  • When you check into the hotel, don't be afraid to ask for an upgrade.
  • Take a picture of the hotel name and address, in case you take a cab and the driver doesn't speak your language. Avoid jet lag by powering through your day without a nap.
  • Venture out of the touristy areas to find the best local food and experience the local culture.
  • Use Google Translate often.
  • Take a picture of your tour vouchers and tickets, in case you lose them.
  • Don't be afraid to get lost. Sometimes stumbling on the unexpected makes for the best adventure! Visit historical sites during lunchtime when the crowds are smaller.
  • Take only what you need when you go out.
  • Be open to strangers, but keep your guard up.
  • Take free walking tours.
  • Don't be afraid to haggle with street vendors.
  • Don't pack too much into your day and let it unfold naturally.
  • Visit the tourism bureau in each city.
  • Tipping is always welcomed and appreciated!
  • Don't place important items in your back pocket.
  • Go to a bank or ATM in the country you are visiting to avoid high fees.
  • Carry a small amount of local cash.
  • Bring snacks and a reusable water bottle.
  • Make good use of your hotel's concierge services.
